System Engineer - PHY
Location: Milpitas, CA, USA

Responsibilities |
- Provide technical leadership on WiMAX system design, architecture and specifications development with focus on PHY-level architecture
- Work with cross functional teams and product line management to define and document design and development requirements for current and next generation WiMAX systems
- Perform link budget analysis and propagation modeling
- Simulate system level performance for different channel and interference conditions using tools such as Matlab and Simulink
- Study and analyze tradeoffs in MIMO system design and collaborate with software and hardware design teams for implementation
- Participate in system-level performance tests with emphasis on the baseband

Requirements |
- Five or more years of experience in design, specification, integration and simulation of wireless communication systems
- Strong knowledge of digital communications, RF propagation, link-budget analysis and clear understanding of interference and multipath issues in cellular architectures
- Experience with multi-antenna systems (MIMO) and techniques such as transmit/receive diversity, spatial multiplexing and beamforming
- Must have strong lab skills and experience with specialized test equipment for baseband-level tests (spectrum analyzer/VSA, signal generator, channel emulator)
- Knowledge of WiMax/802.16, 802.11 and WCDMA would be a big plus
- Demonstrated experience with Matlab
- Superior written and verbal communication skills; must be capable of documenting and communicating system design and specifications
- Self-motivated, team player with the ability to work in fast-paced, start-up environment
- MSEE required (PhD preferred)
