Sr. Product Manager, WiMAX Products

Primary Responsibilities:
The successful candidate's objective will be to ensure that Aperto’s Fixed and Mobile WiMAX solutions deliver maximum market acceptance, customer satisfaction, and maximum revenue. We are currently seeking a dynamic Sr. Product Manager for our WiMAX solutions. This person must be capable of managing technically complex wireless products from concept through to delivery and maintenance, working closely with customers and the marketing, sales and development teams.

The position reports to the Director of Product Management (Milpitas, California).
  • Definition/ownership of the "whole product" for assigned product lines by anticipating customer/industry trends, and identifying and driving customer, industry, and partner relationships.
  • Direct the product life cycle process (PLCP) for the position's assigned product lines that can include CPE, Accessories, Antennas, GPS, Base Station, VoIP Gateways.
  • Validation of product features with customers and partners, development of detailed product requirements documents (PRDs), definition of product releases, hands-on management of customer alpha/beta trials.
  • Performing business management for the product including revenue and gross margin forecasting, and communicate relevant information to operations and finance.
  • Acting as product champion and knowledge resource for sales including supporting RFI/RFP activities.
  • Working with product and outbound marketing teams to communicate the product's key features and value proposition.
  • Creation and execution of product plans with responsibility for the following:
    o Understanding customer and market requirements and develop detailed product requirements documents
    o Driving product direction and working with engineering and operations to develop product roadmaps
    o Partnering with product marketing to support the products to the field and customers
    o Supporting field/customer requests for product support and problem resolution
    o Benchmarking competitive products
  • Five more year of product management experience in networking and telecommunications including IP communications products. The optimal candidate would have experience managing hardware product lines in broadband wireless or DSL, networking, or wireless industry.
  • Must be resourceful and be able to maintain very flexible working hours as the role requires close coordination and communication with cross-functional teams located in Aperto’s California, USA headquarters as well as key eco-system/supplier partners located in Taiwan, Europe, and USA.
  • BA/BS degree in a science or engineering discipline or related experience, preferably computer science or electrical engineering. MBA desirable.
  • Demonstrated success in launching new products with carriers, service providers (wireline/wireless/cable/satellite) and Enterprise customers.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communications skills that indicate the ability to influence people and teams without direct reporting relationships. Must have the ability to work effectively across the organization.
  • Excellent verbal and communication skills that indicate the ability to successfully present to senior management, customers, and solution partners.
  • As this candidate will be leading the direction of multiple system solutions, proven leadership skills in creating advanced products and working with engineering, sales & applications engineering and operations for successful introduction are required.
  • Effective leadership skills and outstanding individual initiative.
  • Profound understanding of product development life cycle process.
  • Strong customer focus, including ability to think in terms of customer experience / perspective.
  • Must be willing to travel globally – up to 25%.
