CSM Expands Deployment of Aperto Networks WiMAX Gear in National Rollout Across Indonesia

Deployments to Transition From WiMAX-Class To WiMAX Forum Certified™ Equipment

Milpitas, Calif. and Jakarta, Indonesia, (March 13, 2006) – Aperto Networks, developer of the world’s most advanced WiMAX base stations and subscriber units, and PT. Citra Sari Makmur (CSM), one of Indonesia’s largest telecommunications operators, announced today that CSM is expanding its existing deployment of Aperto’s WiMAX-class multi-service broadband wireless systems to cover a wider area across Indonesia.

The deployment will take place in stages and will transition from CSM’s currently installed base of Aperto’s WiMAX-class PacketWAVE™ family of equipment to Aperto’s WiMAX Forum Certified™ PacketMAX™ family of products.

“CSM evaluated several different technologies and suppliers before selecting Aperto as our wireless partner,” said Agus Buntaran, CTO of CSM. “We feel privileged that CSM will be among the world’s first deployments of WiMAX Forum Certified™ equipment. The deployment of this cutting-edge technology is another “first” for CSM, and it is an appropriate addition to our growing list of achievements.”

CSM uses Aperto’s gear to provide professional-grade broadband wireless services to Indonesia’s financial services and banking sector, supporting legacy frame relay applications, as well as offering VPN, Internet access, leased line and telephony services. CSM also uses Aperto’s platform to provide data, voice and multimedia services to hotels, enterprises, and high-end residential customers across various cities in Indonesia.

“We consider CSM to be among the world’s most progressive and forward-thinking telecom service providers,” said Reza Ahy, chairman and CEO of Aperto Networks. “WiMAX is ideally suited for Indonesia, the world’s fourth most populous country, spanning over 17,000 islands. CSM recognized this and was an early proponent of WiMAX. Now CSM, and their customers, are poised to reap the rewards of WiMAX.”

“Emerging economies like Indonesia can realize tremendous economic benefits from WiMAX. Aperto’s carrier-grade WiMAX Forum certified solutions can help deliver multi-tiered broadband services to end users of all types in a cost effective manner helping reduce the digital divide and promoting economic growth. CSM is clearly taking the lead in this endeavor,” said Manish Gupta, Vice President of Marketing & Alliances of Aperto Networks.
