| Turbonet Trialing Aperto Networks WiMAX Gear in Istanbul |
| |
| ISTANBUL, Turkey, (June 27, 2006) –
Aperto Networks, builder of the world’s most advanced WiMAX base stations and subscriber
units, announced today that Turbonet, a leading Wireless Internet Service Provider (WISP)
in Turkey, has deployed Aperto Networks' PacketWave WiMAX-class broadband wireless solution
for a trial in Istanbul. |
| |
| Turbonet, a WiMAX Forum member, has been awarded a test
license from Turkey's regulatory authorities, and is field testing Aperto's end-to-end 3.5
GHz WiMAX-class solution, which includes an array of base stations, subscriber equipment,
and an element management system. Aperto is also providing technical support in the
execution of the trial. |
| |
| “Aperto Networks’ carrier-grade,
multiple-sector WiMAX equipment is recognized around the world for embodying and
delivering the WiMAX industry’s most robust QoS and networking features,” said Gokhan
Ayaydin, CEO of Turbonet. “This was a primary reason for why we chose to trial Aperto's gear.” |
| |
| “Istanbul, with 10 million residents and
unique geographical and structural challenges, is a world-class metropolitan area that
is perfectly suited to be efficiently and effectively served by wireless ISPs,”
said Mike Pratt, president and CEO of Aperto Networks. “We are excited to be
working with Turbonet, one of the country's leading WISP’s, and we look forward to a
positive outcome and a mutually beneficial working relationship.” |
